“Disciple” is the English translation of the ancient Greek word mathetes. It describes a person who follows a teacher in a wider sense: not only studying and following their teachings but imitating their teacher’s way of life. Discipleship within the church is both individual and done in community with other believers—just as Jesus taught the disciples as a group. Discipleship at NCC has many facets, with opportunities for men, women, children, and on occasion mixed groups as well.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LXG) —Our men’s group meets at least once per quarter and often in between. It is a great opportunity to develop and deepen relationships in an informal and fun atmosphere, and to encourage each other while living life in the context of being part of an active Christian faith community.

Women’s Bible Study—The Women's bible study combines a participatory and informal bible study with a time of fellowship. Meeting dates and times are listed in the Sunday Bulletin.

Church Night—Church Night is mixed group that meets occasionally for special studies such as church history, parenting, marriage enrichment, dealing with cross-culture issues, etc. Church night activities are listed in the Sunday bulletin.

YOYOs—YOYOs stands for “You’re Only Young Once,” and is the name of our teen group. It’s open to anyone between the ages of 12 -19 (19 if you’re still in Grade 13). YOYOs usually meet on the second and fourth Sunday of the month. Exact dates and times are listed in the church’s Sunday bulletin.

SUNCLUB—Sunclub is our Sunday School class for children ages 4-11. The young people participate in the first half of our worship service, and then leave to take part in class during the sermon. (The sense of all-age worship remains central to our sense of being an extended family of Christians where the young people are not considered to be the church of tomorrow but are recognized as being an important part of the church of today.)

Monthly Potluck Suppers—During the spring, summer, and early fall we meet at someone’s home the first Sunday of each month to socialize and share a meal.

Alpha Course—is a video introduction to the basic truths of our Christian faith, presented by Nicky Gumbel and used worldwide.

Beta Course—is the follow-up, a practical introduction to living out the Christian life, based on Philippians.

DivorceCare®—is a biblically based divorce support seminar and small group designed to help people through the painful process of healing from a divorce.

Specific dates and times for these courses will be advertised in the local media, the church website, and church bulletin.
