Church Leadership

Terry Burns was born in Wyandotte, Michigan (USA). Growing up in a military family, he lived in Japan, France, and Germany, as well as in various locations throughout the United States. After graduating from Colorado State University, Terry embarked on a military career, and retired from the U.S. Army in 1995. Rev. Burns graduated from the Regent University School of Divinity in 2002 with an M.A. in Church History & Theology, and was ordained by the Presbytery of the Blue Ridge, Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) in 2004. Terry served as an Assistant Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA) and as an Associate Pastor at Grace Community Church (PCA) in Charlottesville, Virginia (USA) prior to accepting the call to serve as pastor at Nicosia Community Church.

NCC is governed by the principles of church government laid down in Scripture and is not subject to the control of any other ecclesiastical body. NCC recognizes and respects the integrity of the denominational churches on the island of Cyprus and, as possible, we cooperate with them in a variety of ways.

NCC utilizes a biblical leadership model, recognizing the offices of elder and deacon. Elders are responsible for general oversight and care of the church, particularly in safeguarding doctrine, our worship practices, faith development and discipleship, and, as needed, church discipline. Deacons are responsible for the church’s service and mercy functions, such as benevolence/charity and visitation of the sick and disabled, as well as facilities, financial, and personnel management. Together with the pastor, the elders and deacons compose the Church Leadership Team, providing leadership and oversight to church ministries and activities.
